Chicago Lights: A Cause Close to My Heart
As a Chicago-based realtor, I’ve had the privilege of helping people find their dream homes in this incredible city. But what makes Chicago truly special isn’t just the beautiful homes or bustling neighborhoods—it’s the people. It’s the vibrant communities that give these spaces life. That’s why I’m proud to support Chicago Lights, an organization making a profound impact right here in our city.
Why Chicago Lights Matters
Chicago Lights is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and young adults through the transformative power of arts, education, and social services. Their work is tangible—offering tutoring, an urban farm, a food pantry, and a social service center. They’re meeting immediate needs while also creating opportunities for long-term success for some of Chicago’s most vulnerable populations.
When I think about my own experiences and the people I’ve met through my travels, I’m reminded that basic necessities—food, clothing, healthcare, shelter, and education—aren’t a guarantee for everyone. But it goes beyond just the basics. How many of us discovered a passion through music, art, or creative expression? Or had a mentor who sparked a dream or inspired us to aim higher? Maybe it was the first time you strummed a guitar, realized you wanted to practice law, or even began to aspire to homeownership.
Chicago Lights gives young people those same defining moments—the chance to be inspired, supported, and equipped with the skills to build brighter futures.
My Connection to Chicago Lights
I was introduced to Chicago Lights a few years ago through a friend from church—someone I deeply admire and respect. Shortly after, I joined Fourth Presbyterian Church and was honored to be nominated to serve on the board of directors for the nonprofit.
One of my favorite memories was donating an experience for their annual gala—a private dinner with a personal chef for a group of friends. The generosity I witnessed that evening was nothing short of inspiring. Since then, I’ve been committed to supporting Chicago Lights in any way I can.
For me, giving back isn’t just about charity—it’s about community. Chicago Lights’ work doesn’t just change individual lives—it uplifts the entire city.
